Jonathan Mannion’s Photography

Photographer Jonathan Mannion has taken pictures of just about anyone that has ever been worthy to photograph: you’ve heard of Jay-Z, LeBron James, Drake, and Lance Armstrong, right? Profiled in the most recent Leica Portrait series, Mannion discusses his work behind the lens, from his first professional experience working on Hova’s “Reasonable Doubt” in ’96 to his place as a staple in the hip-hop community. DJ Quik once boasted that the world “sees hip-hop through his eyes,” a fact that is pretty much impossible to argue against. Mannion’s photographs have chronicled one of the most diverse and interesting movements in music history, a movement with only more incredible images to come.

Harmonic Convergence by Christopher Janney

In 1997 artist and sound architect Christopher Janney was commissioned to create “Harmonic Runway” by the Miami international airport. To follow up on this installation Janney recently unveiled his newest interactive piece at the airport – “Harmonic Convergence.” Integrating a light and audio responsive installation across a pedestrian walkway, the focal points of the experimental installation are video sensors that adjust the lighting and sound based on the number of people in the space. The truly psychedelic display was designed to coincide with the Art Basel event in Miami Beach and Design Miami 2011.

Frendy Lemorin TYBR: Jonathan Briu

TYBR: Jonathan Briu (Trailer) from Frendy Lemorin on Vimeo.

Earlier this year I featured a video from a documentary series created by my close friend Frendy Lemorin called "The Yellow Brick Road", a documentary which features an assortment of young talented people on their grind and a small look into their lives. This time around Frendy features another good friend of mine Jonathan Briu a designer, visionary, artist, and all around hard worker. This collaboration they've put out is a look into the much mysterious life of Jonathan Briu, it features images which give you a look into his unique style and the work he's done for Mishka. The video also shows a glimpse into the work he did with The Roots and Erykah Badu. Though it is hard to believe this is just a trailer of his TYBR episode, be on the look out for the episode in its entirety in the coming weeks, it will surely be nothing less than amazing.
